Muzeum Śląska Cieszyńskiego

Muzeum Śląska Cieszyńskiego w Cieszynie to jedno z najstarszych muzeów publicznych w Europie Środkowej i najstarsze tego typu muzeum w Polsce, założone w 1802 roku przez ks. Leopolda Jana Szersznika.

Instytucja mieści się w historycznym Pałacu Larischów, który powstał po wielkim pożarze miasta w 1789 roku. Wcześniej Larischowie mieli swoją siedzibę przy ulicy Konwiktowej, jednak z biegiem czasu zdecydowali się na wzniesienie nowej rezydencji. Inicjatorem budowy był Jan Józef Antoni hrabia Larisch von Mönnich, pełniący różne funkcje zarówno w Księstwie Cieszyńskim, jak i na dworze wiedeńskim.

Muzeum Śląska Cieszyńskiego obejmuje różnorodne działy tematyczne, takie jak archeologia, etnografia, fotografia, historia, kartografia, nauka, sztuka i technika.
